Barbaro family is one of the few Italian shipowners that have been active for almost two centuries in the shipping market trading and operating in the refined oil products market. Through subsidiary company PB Tankers SPA, Barbaro also controls through long term contracts, to hedge his commercial needs, eight new medium range product tankers, some of them are also Ice class. The commercial management of these vessels is run by Rome office.

Starting in 2001 Pietro Barbaro bought three 46,000 dwt sister ships and ordered 20 newbuildings at Stx Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. (South Korea): one of the biggest orders of MR tankers-Ice Class 1A ever placed.
